Understandably, many people have little idea of what to expect once their car is involved in an accident, and the whole process can seem daunting. We’re asked some questions very regularly, and so we have put the answers together for you – and we hope this makes things clearer for you. If you can’t find the answer to your question, please get in touch.
Do you guarantee work undertaken to my vehicle?
- Yes, all repairs undertaken by KC Autos are guaranteed for the lifetime of the vehicle.
- Parts fitted carry the manufacturers warranty period, usually 12 months.
Why do you pre-estimate repairs prior to my car coming into your site?
- If your vehicle is mobile, then pre-estimating allows us to order and receipt parts prior to your vehicles arrival, resulting in your vehicle being with us for the least possible time.
- It allows us time to gain authority from your insurance company, for the repairs required.
- It also allows us to establish if your vehicle is repairable or not.
Can I choose when my car is collected and delivered back to me?
- Yes, we will always try to accommodate a suitable date for collection and can generally indicate morning or afternoon slots.
- Once completed we will work with you to get your vehicle back to you as soon as possible.
How long will repairs take?
- All repairs are different and so therefore is the length of time it takes to carry out the repairs.
- You will be given an ‘estimated’ completion date, which is the provisional date we will aim to get your vehicle back to you.
- If circumstances change, we will inform you of this as soon as possible, including any possible delays.
What can cause delays during the repair process?
- Manufacturers parts may not be available straight away and may need to be specially ordered.
- Your Insurer may wish to inspect your vehicle prior to repairs commencing.
- There may be a delay in us receiving authority to proceed with repairs.
- Additional parts or repairs required may be identified during the repair process.
Is there any charge for courtesy cars?
- No, generally if you have cover under your policy for this, the courtesy car cost is generally covered by KC Autos or your Insurer.
- You may be liable for the cost of any damaged caused, whilst in your possession.
- You should return the replacement vehicle in the same condition in which you received it; this includes the level of fuel left in it.
Who insures the courtesy car?
- Generally, the courtesy car will be covered on your own policy, and as such all the same terms and conditions will apply, including those who are eligible to drive.
What type of courtesy car should I expect?
- Most Insurers ask us to provide small 3 or 5 door cars, such as Hyundai i10
- You may have the option to upgrade at an additional cost if you would like something different.
- We may use a third party hire company to supply alternative transport.
What happens if my insurance company does not approve all aspects of my claim?
- We are only able to undertake the work approved by your insurance company’s engineer and other repairs would be subject to a private quote/invoice, should you choose to pay for these yourself.
- It is your insurance company’s decision what they will or will not cover under the claim and to avoid delays it is important you contact them immediately if you wish to discuss this aspect.
- Your insurer may choose to send independent engineers out to examine your car and validate any aspect of your claim.
What payments will I be liable for?
- You will be liable to pay your policy excess unless your insurance company has waived this.
- If you are VAT registered, you will be responsible for the VAT element of the invoice to your insurance company, which you can claim back through your business.
- Any private work which you have been quoted for and you have instructed us to do.
- Any fines (parking, speeding, congestion zone, bridges, tunnels etc) whilst the courtesy car is in your possession.
- Payments must be made before your car is delivered.
How do I pay you?
- We do not accept cash or cheques; so, bank transfer or debit card payments are accepted. Our customer service team is on hand to assist you with payments.
What if I have a question, problem, or complaint?
- Please contact our customer service team at the site allocated to you, we are here to help!
- If we don’t know the answer to you question etc, we will liaise with your insurer to help resolve.
- We genuinely want your experience with KC Autos to be positive one and our experienced team is always on hand to advise and help wherever we can; we realise making a claim can sometimes be quite daunting.
